I’ve decided to put down the Saul Bellow collection for a bit. Stupidly, I’ve picked up two: Keep the Aspidistra Flying by George Orwell, and John Allen’s book on Lubetkin. On the Design Museum website, I came across this quote from Lubetkin’s speech to a RIBA awards ceremony:

“A society that openly professes that the present is expendable and the future unintelligible begets artists who have to scream to be noticed and remembered for a quarter of an hour”
