Well, today is supposedly the day of exchange on the sale of our flat in Brighton and purchase of our new house in Cambridge. All told, the move will effectively bin about £7K. As a post-doc, the joy of below-average pay and the security of short, fixed-term contracts mean that this is not insubstantial, and I face doing it again in a few years. At some point I’ll post up a “new researchers guide to buying in Cambridge”, but right at this minute, it is all too raw.
