Itunes is the shit. Where else will you find Flaming Lips covering Kylie Minogue? I think there’s a joke in there somewhere.
I never cared for Tears original version of “Mad World” but the cover off of Donnie Darko is great.
Well, for a start, it’s less than $4 for the whole EP here, and at a guess, any of the P2P networks will have MP3s.
Itunes is shit It’s like buying a photocopy of a book when there’s a photocopier right there, and a secondhand bookshop round the corner. You are choosing to store your music collection in a worse than current technology format. At least with CDs, you can see hope in the upsampling stuff that people like dCS are doing. Try upsampling that 128kbps mp3 you just paid for. Also, there are some CD players out there that sound pretty good. Sure, none of them make me want to give up my Linn, but there’s no way that the ‘vinyl renaissance’ is ever going to be any more that a music geeks hobby.
Probably I am in a small minority, but books and music are two things I don’t think you can spend too much money on. It is a way of building a cultural storehouse that you will live of in years to come, and hopefully will pass on to your kids. I do believe cultural output will become more accessable as technology improves, buy right now the formats that are available lose to much. At iTunes you are paying for a 320×240 quicktime movie of Cinema Paradiso, and it’s going to look horrible for ever.
mp3: horrible sound forever.

you’re mad. my computer is most certainly hi-fi. if i don’t listen to mp3s at work, i don’t listen to music, and how else do you expect me to fit 400 cds in my car? dork.

Fuck off, your Subaru mom-mobile has plenty of space for 400 CDs. If you threw out last weeks twinkie wrappers, you could prolly fit couple of extra hundred in too.
Car-stereos are ‘not hi-fi’.
