This trike obsession is a weird one. If I have a spare moment, I find myself trawling the web for audax stories, HPV race reports, and recumbent reviews. I guess it’s partly fuelled by attitudes I’ve found I share with the people on the various mailing lists I’ve subscribed to. The whole car-free thing is a marker for an array of beliefs that I subscribe to. Trying to justify an ICE Monster is tough going at the mo’, but if I were to get a job that required a car, a bank loan for more than the cost of a race-winning Micro wouldn’t require a moments thought. If I am going to restrict my car use to videogames*, adding things like a Monoporter to the trike wish list starts to turn it into a purchase I can rationalise. It’s not that I never got over wanting to do drifts in a go-kart, honest.
*Burnout3: Takedown is superb.
